We are talking about building your immune system and viral bugs. 80% of children’s illnesses are viral. Dr. Keri Marshall was brilliant on our Jan. 30th show. She made me feel comfortable about understanding how our complicated immune system works and what to do to reverse and prevent illness. Two of her many easy-to-do-at-home tips: ONE: After you take a hot shower, turn on the cold water, then hot water, then cold water. This is called hydrotherapy and it stimulates the flow of your lymphatic system which manages your immune health. TWO: Skin brushing … you heard me right, skin brushing. Use a brush to exfoliate your skin by always brushing toward your heart. This also stimulates the circulation of the lymph system. Let’s add another tip – massage. By simply massaging your children’s back, neck and/or head, you are stimulating immune action while destressing your kids. Do this before they go to bed! Oh yes, can’t overlook the importance of sleep. Dr. Marshall says everyadult should be in bed by 11pm – no watching TV or a computer screen (interferes with the production of your sleeping aid, melatonin). Okay, one more. Cook with disease fighting herbs. Example: add tumeric to your rice recipe for a beautiful yellow rice – does not change the flavor. Now for the rest, you will have to go the this radio’s show archive. It is one of our best so turn it on with a pad and pencil by your side. You’ll need it! By the way, Dr. Keri Marshall practices in the DC area. Please email us for her contact information.

Moms and Dads, use spices and herbs when you cook! It could save your family’s life. Allspice, cinnamon, cloves, marjoram, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage, tarragon, thyme and tumeric are all filled with phenols, your true fighters of disease. They are especially helpful in the prevention of heart disease and diabetes. These are not just adult illnesses. Kids across America are sick with these and other diseases. Please, do not be afraid to use herbs and spices when you prepare foods for your family. You can start by throwing some finely chopped ones into salads. We will devote a radio show, www.BetterFoodChoicesRadio.com, to tell you how to add them to your family favorite recipes.

This should not come as a surprise to you. Common sense will tell you that if you are not feeding your body and thus heart their needed nutrients, they won’t perform well. In fact, some “foods” reverse the health of an organ. Two main culprits fried and salty foods. Worldwide it is stated that 30 percent of heart attacks can be attributed to a nutrient-empty diet.* Sad. What grows out to the ground will provide lots of healthy nutrients for your heart. Yet, it appears that more people are eating processed foods than fresh fruit and vegetables. Please, use your common sense and move your family’s diet toward fresh foods … fresh deep-fried fries do not count!

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that since 1997, 18 percent more kids have been diagnosed with allergies. And, they say no one knows why? I beg to differ with them. There is lots of evidence pointing to why: consumption of artificial additives in processed products and the increase of farming chemicals found in foods (ie pesticides) are a couple. There are enough warning signals for us to take note and focus on eating naturally sourced foods. We recommend that everyone eats God-made foods for your God-made bodies – not lab-made foods. This action would be a significant step in eliminating many causes of allergies.

How do you come up with name like Lisanatti? Phil Lisac, the founder of this company, was writing a note to his wife on their anniversay when the light bulb went off. Why not combine his wife’s maiden name, Simonatti, with Lisac? Hence Lisanatti. The family approved. (Nattilisa was axed.)
We are encouraging you to try their almond and rice cheeses. Use them in your traditional cheese recipes, even lasagna, and let us know the results. We would love to receive any successful recipes you want to share with other moms. Email them to ellenbriggs@familyfoodexperts.com. By the way, Lisanatti products freeze well!
Loved the quote from Phil Lisac’s son, “We change people’s eating habits one bite at a time.” That’s a Can Do attitude. We can all change our eating habits one bite at a time with Better Food Choices that taste good!
