If you are buying chicken that has been swirled around with other chickens in a cold chorinated chicken bath, you are paying extra for this water which contains chemicals and what ever else was on and IN all the chickens. UGH. How much extra? Up to 12% for cut up chicken and up to 8% for whole chickens. Why? Because that is how much water is absorbed by chickens while it is soaking in this bath for around 45 minutes. Proof: check out the fluids sitting at the bottom of a package of chicken and the “diaper” placed there to soak some of it up. The rest is still in the chicken.

One of many reasons why Sally and I are Bell and Evans fans is that they have designed and built an air-chilled system where the chickens are passed through squeaky clean chilled rooms hanging from single layer belts so there is no cross contamination – also means reduced exposure to salmonella.

You can see, these chickens do not absorb any extra fluids and they maintain their natural juices. No chance of absorbing taste-robbing chlorine. The Kid Kritics know the difference – they told us “this (Bell & Evans) chicken has more flavor!” We concur.
… for the health of your family,
